A new Export Fundamentals Program has been launched by the South Australian Government to provide emerging and existing local exporters with the tools, connections and confidence to successfully market their products and services internationally and drive the growth of local jobs.

Designed by the Department of Trade and Investment, the program will be delivered in partnership with the national employer association and provider of trade and export development services, the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) and Tonsley-based firm, Hydra Consulting.

Trade and Investment Minister David Ridgway said given the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19, now was the time for  SA companies to consider their future business and export strategies. The Export Fundamentals Program would give local exporters an opportunity to upskill and successfully move into international markets when they reopened.

“This program has been planned so participants can prepare for opportunities as we emerge from the current environment,” Mr Ridgway said.

Hydra Consulting has been engaged to partner with the Ai Group to co-design the program and contribute to content development, with a focus on creating an innovative online learning environment for participants.

“With Ai Group’s extensive experience in facilitating training, coaching, mentoring and advising businesses across Australia, it is well-positioned to assist and support South Australian businesses in gaining new skills, knowledge and resources on how to export to key markets,” Mr Ridgway said.

“Likewise, Hydra Consulting specialises in assisting business to achieve high growth, leveraging their capabilities in strategy, marketing, product development and export training. Notably, they have designed and delivered innovative and high-quality export training programs for Wine Australia and the Australian Tourism Export Council.”

Delivered by the Ai Group on behalf of the South Australian Government, the training program integrates online delivery and resources, using tools such as a digital learning platform, webinars and video conferencing and offers access to high quality coaching and mentoring specialists.

Export Fundamentals will be delivered to small groups of 16 attendees to enhance their  learning experience and interaction. The first cohort features representatives from a range of industries including wineries, seafood and manufacturing.

An anticipated 400 companies will benefit from the program over its 24-months.

Based at Tonsley Innovation District, Hydra Consulting provides services in customer voices and engagement, production/packaging, process improvement, growth strategy, projects, export, and tourism.
