Building and maintaining Australia's frontline naval defence capabilities

ASC Shipbuilding has been building complex and highly capable surface naval vessels for the Royal Australian Navy for more than 10 years.

In December 2018, ASC Shipbuilding was acquired by BAE Systems Australia to deliver the Hunter Class Frigate Program, which will deliver nine anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Navy.

They will be built at the state-of-the-art Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia, replacing Australia’s existing fleet of eight Anzac Class frigates, making it the biggest surface ship project in Australia’s defence history.

At Tonsley Innovation District, ASC Shipbuilding is collaborating with Flinders University and Australian businesses to test and trial advanced manufacturing tools and techniques, which can be adapted to shipyard and deliver increased safety and efficiency outcomes.
