Business/Higher Education Round Table focuses on Tonsley

At the national Business/Higher Education Round Table (B/HERT) at Tonsley on 11 July, a panel of 18 industry and education experts gathered to present and discuss “Innovation At Work: The Tonsley Precinct”.

Terry Burgess, chair of the Tonsley Steering Committee and member of the Economic Development Board outlined Tonsley’s innovation district framework, and Matt Salier, Director of the New Venture Institute spoke about The Value of the Tonsley Model: The Entrepreneurial University.

Later, other presentations and panel discussions focussed on elements of innovation including digital disruption, co-location and co-creation, commercialisation and the role of higher education.

Organised by B/HERT and Flinders University’s Medical Device Research Institute, this round table event was supported by CISCO and Tonsley. Over 100 people attended and were given a tour of Tonsley.

B/HERT’s mission is to pursue collaborative initiatives between industry and higher education to advance a knowledge-based economy.
