From small things, big things grow at Tonsley

Families living and working in the Tonsley Innovation District will soon have access to a new early learning centre on their doorstep, with Nido Early School set to open by the end of the year*.

Designed to support children in their earliest and most important years, the centre will support families seeking a more considered, play-based approach.

Renewal SA Acting Executive Director, Property and Major Projects, Matt Hogan said the opening reflected the precinct’s growth as a community.

“Tonsley is growing into a genuinely connected community, and the arrival of Nido Early School is another important step in that evolution,” Mr Hogan said.

“Having high quality early learning available within the precinct means families can put down roots here with confidence, knowing the services they need are close by.”

Tonsley is home to workers from more than 150 businesses and around 1,100 residents living in the adjoining Tonsley Village development. The precinct’s residential community continues to grow, with 574 dwellings now completed and a further 979 anticipated by 2029.

Purpose-built to support children’s development, the centre’s design aims to balance quiet, focused learning with collaborative play.

Five learning rooms will provide age-appropriate environments, complemented by a central piazza and two dedicated atelier art studios.

It also features three outdoor spaces linked to play areas and gardens as well as a large under cover area designed for all-weather use.

Supporting the precincts history as a Chrysler manufacturing site, a restored Valiant will be embedded within the outdoor environment.

“We’re incredibly excited to be opening in Tonsley Village and supporting a community that continues to grow and evolve,” said Katherine Coulter, Nido Early School’s People and Quality Leader in South Australia.

“It’s a location where families are building their lives and having access to trusted early learning close by is an important part of that.”

The centre will cater for up to 82 children aged six weeks through to school age, with doors open Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

“At Nido Tonsley Village, our aim is to create a space where children feel safe, welcomed and inspired every day, while giving families the reassurance that their child is in an environment that truly understands early learning and development,” Ms Coulter said.

Enrolments will open closer to the opening, with families invited to join the waitlist on Nido Early School’s website: Nido Preschool & Childcare in Tonsley Village(SA)
