Siemens progressing with Tonsley plans

Siemens progressing with Tonsley plans

Siemens announced they are moving into Tonsley, a move which really solidifies the company’s operations in South Australia – for which preparations are well under way.

Siemens is working with Adelaide based company Manufacturing Focus which specialises in lean manufacturing techniques including providing services and support in strategic manufacturing process and business practices for the manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing Focus is tasked with optimising the land requirements, layout and operational planning of Siemens’ new turbine maintenance facility at Tonsley.

This collaboration will ensure that the new Siemens facility will have the productivity and efficiency that its customers expect and maintain competitiveness with alternative facilities outside of Australia.

Siemens is also working with Commercial & General, a property group which develops, constructs and manages high quality industrial properties, to finalise costing, construction scheduling, civil and regulation adherence/requirements.

Siemens and Commercial & General plan to start construction at Tonsley in early 2014, and to have the facility operational by end of 2014.
