Through Tonsley Innovation District’s partnerships with leading energy companies, utilisation of current assets and strategic land repurposing, an innovative and sustainable utilities approach has been developed to provide a myriad of benefits to the community. These include an independent electrical grid, an inventive water solution, smart metering, a district electricity scheme and a ground breaking hydrogen production facility.

The strong partnership established between Tonsley Innovation District with leading residential developer PEET has been structured to grow in line with the development’s masterplan as it progresses towards 1700 residents. The result is leading-edge technology incorporated into the housing design at Tonsley Village – an outcome which reflects Renewal SA’s focus on facilitating infrastructure that creates tangible benefits for South Australians.

"Tonsley Innovation District is an example of the benefits obtained by encouraging collaboration between academia, start-up and established businesses with high value manufacturing in an attractive mixed use environment." UDIA judging panel

PEET remains proud of its continuing partnership with Renewal SA to deliver more innovative and leading infrastructure and amenities to the district.
