Tonsley Village residential sales centre opens

Tonsley Village residential sales centre opens

The development of Tonsley Village is expected to support an estimated 780 construction jobs over nine years and generate an estimated $265 million in housing investment.

The residential development is part of the Tonsley’s vision to create a vivid mixed-use precinct that provides an interface between residents and the business and research community to support co-design and co-creation of new products and services.

Stage One offers 50 terrace homes and three apartment buildings, and will create more than 100 jobs per year during its construction. Civil and road works for these homes will start in February with construction of the first homes to start mid-year.

Minister for Manufacturing and Innovation, Kyam Maher, officially opened the Tonsley Village sales centre for specialist residential land developer, Peet Limited, and discussed the benefits that living at Tonsley will provide:

“People who live at Tonsley will have full access to its recreational facilities, including a 24-hour squash court, three-on-three basketball courts, table tennis and cafés in the Main Assembly Building (MAB).

“We are planning to have a supermarket and other retail on site and there is an Expression of Interest (EOI) process underway to identify proponents to develop the Boiler House for hospitality, which could include a bar, restaurant and microbrewery.”

Peet Ltd Development Director, Alan Miller, also noted: “There has been extremely strong buyer and public interest in the project already, with homes selling to pre-registered buyers and we are very excited about the future of this great new Adelaide community.”

The site’s Stage Three civil works were completed in December 2017 by contractor Civil and Allied Technical Construction (CATCON), enabling work on the residential precinct to go ahead, including connecting roads and undergrounding of the overhead power in the residential precinct.

Work has started on street scaping of the Main Assembly Building Circuit to provide walking and cycling paths, landscaping and other amenities, and is expected to be completed by April 2018.
