BAE Systems Maritime Australia
Building and maintaining Australia's frontline naval defence capabilities

BAE Systems Australia’s shipbuilding workforce has been building complex and highly capable surface naval vessels for the Royal Australian Navy for more than 10 years.

In December 2018, BAE Systems Australia acquired ASC Shipbuilding Pty Ltd (now trading as BAE Systems Maritime Australia, but formerly trading as ASC Shipbuilding) to deliver the Hunter Class Frigate Program, which will deliver nine anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Navy.

They will be built at the state-of-the-art Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia, replacing Australia’s existing fleet of eight Anzac Class frigates, making it the biggest surface ship project in Australia’s defence history.

At Tonsley Innovation District, BAE Systems Maritime Australia is collaborating with Flinders University and Australian businesses to test and trial advanced manufacturing tools and techniques, which can be adapted to shipyard and deliver increased safety and efficiency outcomes.
