Official opening at 11am by The Hon Zoe Bettison with Spirit in Unity performing a Welcome to Country.
Hosted by Australian Refugee Association.
Get ready as the Australian Refugee Association (ARA) brings its award-winning Souk back to Tonsley Innovation District.
Indulge your senses as you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of merchants, music and mouth-watering streetfood from around the world. Sit back and take in the vibrance of this exciting celebration of culture and community.
Souks can be found in the Middle East, Africa and even in parts of Asia. Traditionally Souks were on trade routes, marketplaces for merchants to stop, rest, sell their wares, trade and meet old friends and acquaintances. Souks are a myriad of interesting, eclectic discoveries as you meander through the maze of laneways and nooks.
This event will feature a wide variety of “merchants” selling fresh produce, spices, oils, plants and fresh flowers, street food, and artisanal handicraft products such as jewellery, textiles, gifts, homewares, baskets, art and so much more.
It will be a feast for the senses and a place of gathering with your friends and family….and a VERY multicultural experience with no passport required!
Head over to ARA’s Facebook event for spotlights of the Merchants, entertainers, roving performers, and updates as the Souk is brought to life over the coming weeks!
