National search underway for Tonsley residential developer

Delivery of the residential precinct will continue Tonsley’s transformation and contribute to an innovative and advanced manufacturing future for South Australia.

The residential Expression of Interest process provides an opportunity for developers to be part of a project that will set new standards in urban development.

The 11-hectare residential precinct will house approximately 1,500 people and provide a unique opportunity to connect with established business, industry and research and education institutions.

This land offering is the first of its kind in South Australia and it is anticipated that a range of significant developers will want to be involved in this exciting precinct.

Our Expression of Interest process will gauge the appetite and vision of developers to deliver innovative residential and mixed-use development that responds to a changing South Australian housing market.

It will further enhance our efforts to transform Tonsley into a world-class manufacturing, high technology, educational and residential address.

Tonsley will be purpose-designed to create accommodation that will promote sustainable living practices, safe communities and healthy neighbourhoods. Homes will be built to reflect the unique vision for Tonsley as a model for how design can shape people-friendly living and working environments.

Tonsley’s residential and residential mixed use precinct comprises 18% of the overall site and includes three land parcels with supporting retail and service opportunities. The Expression of Interest is the first in a three stage assessment process to identify a preferred development partner.

Stage 1 of the Expression of Interest closes Monday 25 November 2013.

The 61-hectare Tonsley site located 10 kilometres south of Adelaide’s central business district, will have a worker population of 6,300 over 20 years and accommodate 10,000 students on site each year.
