Tonsley Technical College nears completion

Construction is rapidly progressing on Tonsley Technical College, a cutting-edge educational facility set to open in 2026 within Renewal SA’s Tonsley Innovation District.

Designed to prepare students for careers in some of South Australia’s fastest-growing industries, the college will offer specialised training in advanced manufacturing and engineering, automotive and energy, and building and construction.

Developed in partnership with the Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) and Flinders University’s Bedford Park campus, the college will provide vocational education and training (VET) for students in Years 10 to 12, integrated with their SACE studies.

The learning environment is being carefully designed to replicate the look and feel of real-world workplaces, giving students a head start in their chosen fields.

In April 2025, three new industry partners joined the initiative:

  • SARAH Constructions, the company leading the build
  • REDARC, a prominent advanced electronics manufacturer
  • Climate Impact Corporation (CIC), a leader in the renewable hydrogen sector.

These organisations join existing partners including the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC), the Master Builders Association (MBA) and the Motor Trades Association (MTA).

The college is being constructed alongside Flinders University’s Factory of the Future.

The $45 million facility is part of a broader $208.8 million investment by the South Australian Government to establish five new technical colleges across the state.

Tours for prospective students and the wider community are scheduled to begin in semester two.
